Scott Merriman (the narrator) did a good job of putting sufficient differences in the voices for all the characters to make them stand out from each other in scenes, and with the number of characters in this book it must’ve been quite the task. The audio is nearly 37 hours long so it’s not gonna be a quick read, it’s something you have to take your time with and absorb, and it’s fun to try connect the dots with the past and present storylines, well it was fun for me I’m not sure how Para felt about me going “IS THIS PERSON ACTUALLY THIS PERSON!!?”. WELL she wasn’t wrong, obviously because I’m stubborn I had bought the audiobook (absolute shocker as this is an audiobook review) and I agree it took a bit of getting use to, but once I got a good feel for what was going on and sat back and enjoyed the ride that was The Gray House and its unique residents. The Gray House had been recommended to me by a fellow blogger who absolutely adores this book (shout out to Paracactus, I recommend checking out her review as well as it’s probably more indepth), and while it’s not something I’d normally read I had unexpectedly enjoyed The Minotaur Takes His Own Sweet Time (not the same author or related in anyway other than the fact I found them both fairly surreal in their own way) which was something different so I thought “go on then, lets see where this takes me”.įirstly Para said I should stay away from the audio as there are multiple PoVs, time jumps, and name changes, so it can get a bit confusing if you’re not able to flick back and forth.
